I think it's a great idea . When you have a large tank to fill, gravel can be expensive.
I just got the idea too when I saw some advertised in a Canadian Tire flyer.

I am interested in an update on how it is going. *celebrate

Tank is filled and Cycled take a look...

Hello all, Well the tank has been setup for about 5 weeks now and it's cycled. I have two common goldfish in here now and 2 algae eaters. There is 4 live plants in the tank and 4 plastic plants ( the two tall ones and two med size ones) I will be adding some more live pants but not to many, maybe 3 or 4 more. The gravel is river rock and some large river rock for decorations, hope yall like the way I set it up. I will be getting my fancy goldfish soon, maybe this week. I will keep you posted. I have 2-40 watt light tubes, (it's a shop light that I installed in the hood, full spectrem sun and plant Gro. and the filter is a Filstar XP-3 Canister and it is working GREAT! Here are some of my water readings. PH-7.4, Ammonia- 0 ppm, and Nitrate shows on the low side between 0 ppm and 5.0 ppm real close to the 0 ppm. I will posted a complete summary of my tank soon. Hope you all enjoy the pictures. Thanks, Dale

Work in Progress

I'm still working on the tank. Today I will be putting the lights on a timer and routing the cord where it will not be seen as it is in the pics. And a few other things I have on my mind. I will post again after everything is done, well at least most everything. I don't think you ever really get done, and after I get my new fish. And don't worry about these little guys they will be going back into the fish pond outside. Take care all, Dale

Hello 10 Gal. newbe

Well to sum it up I really like the Fancy Goldfish and they're not boring to me at all. And as far as the tank size goes it's 4'long by 18" wide and 30" tall, you can do the math. It's 110 gals. I was about 10 feet from the tank when I took the picture. Thanks for you input, Dale
