i saw part of a show once of some aquarium in greece (i think it was greece, at least...) and its the largest public aquarium in the world. much larger than shedd aquarium. the second largest public aquarium is in okinawa, japan 
on the show it said the one in greece was by far the biggest in the world and okinawa is the second biggest....i wonder why so many places have different information on which aquarium is the "largest" they must be measured by different things, like square footage, gallons of water, etc.

all this talk of public aquariums makes me miss living in Baltimore and going to the National Aquarium
So far ive been to the Shedd (I live near Chicago),its ok(the new amazon rising is the only thing i really pay attention to).The Monterrey Bay aquarium has a very impressive kelp forest.The Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans is pretty neat,and I really wasnt much impressed that much with seaworld in Orlando. Does Milwaukee have a public aquarium worth going to?
THere are probably so many aquariums in the world that claim to be the biggest because once they are the biggest and cite it online, they never have the humility to go back and update the page. TaiPei 1 is the tallest building in the world right now, but I bet there is a website out there that still says that Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is the biggest. Soon it will be a new building in NYNY or in ShangHai.
