holy cow! Hey Delta :)
What's shakin besides your surface tension! I'm BAAAAAAAAAAACK! I'm in France now and one of my new ace coon boons has just offered me his 50-gallon fish tank. I travel 50% of the time overseas now, less time than when I was in graduate school back in the day when i was on here 24/7. So,....anywho, I'm really considering setting u the tank to be Z.E.R.O. maintenance. CO2, moss, shrimp, low bioload, maybe no C02. Have to re-think the whole thing because I can't be spending time on a tank like i did in the glory days of school. Wife, son, high-power job, the whole deal.

Anyway, I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK !!!!

Tranquilizer, sedation, anesthetic, it seems like almost exactly that description to me I guess :).

The alcohol one alone sounds kind of awful, unless used like you said with clove oil as an anesthetic before hand .

Clove oil I use is bought at a health food store. Great for a toothache until you can get to the dentist too.

Clove Oil, 1 fl oz, (30 ml)

As far as how to use it to euthanize a fish, I use 3 drops per liter (shaken to really mix it up), then add the fish. They go to sleep quickly. Then just add another few drops, stir the water gently, wait, watch for any gill movement. Repeat as needed. Sometimes just a few minutes, with larger fish, an hour.

Thank; I will try this clove oil method. I have used the sudden blunt force trama method in the past. I throw a fish very hard onto a hard surface. I have always felt that the quickest method is best. The clove oil proceedure sounds like it will cause much less overall trama. I favor the side of putting any living thing out of it's misery when hope for recovery is gone. I hope not to be kept alive in misery by folks from the other side if I wind up in that condition.
