Does my tank have parasites?

I re adjusted my airstone today and sturred my substrate in my 10 gallon and these little less than needle thin about 2 inch long white wormy looking things where moving in there, ive not noticed any health concerns on my fish, what are they and where did they come from and will they hurt my fish?

Planaria are very common when you over-feed your fish, I guess they get in on plants and with new additions. You're right, they're nothing to worry about but I would NOT boil the gravel, you could end up creating a mini cycle because a lot of beneficial bacteria lives in the gravel. Simply minimise feeding, stir up the gravel once in a while (your fish will appreciate the snack if you're feeding less) and vac the gravel more often.

Oh and Goldiegupp, your signature is bizarre! That's like, the nightmare tank!

I think Goldiegupp's sig means he/she has ONE 2" oranda, ONE 3" fantail and ONE 2" black moor (or whatever the sizes were). However, I'd have to agree that that tank is way overstocked.
Ah, invisible spaces :rolleyes: it's a bit early for me yet! Still though.. you're right, very overstocked.

Sorry to hijack fishman it just confused me momentarily :p
