Great!

Great reading!!

I still have all 4 of ADFs. One thing I want note because this happens in my tank

When I feed my frogs some times they all gather to the feeding spot. Then while eating there is a case of Mistaken Idenitity.

One frog will grab another and they have a knock down drag out brawl! No one EVER looks hurt after. But it sure dose look awful:)

Lady - Yup, sometimes they do grab onto each other also, but as you said, I've never seen any damage at all come out of it. I've even seen my largest frog bite my smallest frog's loose stomach skin and hold on for a second, but no harm done.

Maybe I'll edit that in somewhere, mentioning that it isn't them fighting...

I'd say its because frogs don't really "bite" their "prey." Instead they try to swallow it whole, so they have no real need for a forceful bite.

Glad people are getting something out of the article.

then is a big thing in my tank.. I am just wondering how you all do this with other fish in with them.. Before they come out of hiding.. the food has all sunk.. and or eaten... any suggestions would be great on this end pls...
They hide under a plant .... if this is anything.
Thanks

I found

When I first got my ADFs i was looking at the net and saw pictures where they were much fatter than mine. To spite the LFS would have me belive they could surviv with the flake food I found they ate the blood worms when feeding to my fish. I also realized mine were not healthy! they were staveing!!

I started feed mine with a turkey baster. Soon they fattened up nicely:) For me I have 3 ways I can make sure they eat.
1)hand feed worms
2)feed whole tank worms and watch to make sute the frogs get some.
3)keep frogs alone. Then I know they are eating

I have tried the turkey baster... and it seemed to of helped... Mine don't come to the surface all that much.. they never really have... Soo.. I go down to the plant they hid under .. and shoot it in there.. Sometimes they find it.. and sometimes they don't.. :( as you say though. I know they are starving... they are digging in the rocks trying to find food....
I will keep trying this way.. and see if I can get them to go.... *sigh*... or I may just pull them and put them in a tank alone.. Hey.. Could they go in with my Fighter Fish>?? it isn't heated though>???

Thanks..

They will get along with most bettas (its the betta that you have to watch out for - some mean ones will nip at the frogs). What temperature is the tank?

What I would suggest is:

If possible, stop by a local veterinarian's office and ask them if they'll give you the little syringes that they use to feed oral medications to small animals like hamster, mice, birds etc. They are much smaller than a turkey baster and dont work quite the same way. With those you can carefully push one worm out at a time.

But, using the turkey baster, try to make it so that one or two bloodworms are jiggling out the end. Don't shoot them out completely. Just let half of them or so poke out the end. Wiggle these in front of the frogs mouth wherever they are. Sometimes I have to rest the worms *on* the frogs nose before he figures it out.

If you have trouble doing this, the next best thing is to get a pair of tweezers. Long ones if possible, or regular "hair grooming" tweezers if not. Grab each worm individually and poke it at the frog's mouth. Continue this way until they're full. This takes a bit longer but you can ensure that you're almost force-feeding them.

A worm can be on the gravel right in front of them and not all frogs have the....err...brain power to figure it out.

Mine never come to the surface though (except to breathe) so dont' feel like they should be.

Good luck and dont' give up:) They're worth it since they're so cute!

Forsure!!

they are sooooo worth it.. hehe... they are really cute.. and my sons just love to watch them when they are out and about.. I have a small syringe here... that i used for our son when he was ill... I think it is a 5 ml holder.. I could try that...

I will let you know tomorrow then... Thank you so much for all the advice.... appreciated.. Tons...

Will surely keep you posted.. Oh.. the temp in the betta tank is room temprature... there is no heater in that one... fluctuates with the sun temp.. he loves his tank in fron of the window..

I believe they take cat-nap like rests...At points throughout the day when they are hiding and occasionally at night. I do not believe that they have eyelids and therefore sleep with their eyes open - which would mean that you can't necessarily tell when they are sleeping...

edited...dang typso ;)hehe
