Yeah, but you don't live in Australia. Tetras are the cheapest way to do it here.

There's really no need for a water change a week after you set up a new tank, whats the point? The water needs to age somehow.

Duellsy, you could try tiger barbs, that's what i used to start my first tank, they're around 3 bucks each. The only problem is that shops don't like to take them back if you don't want them anymore...

What kind of fish did you want anyway? :p

The tank is a bow front 10G Jebo...
theres one male guppy in there at the moment, i plan to have
3 guppies (1m, 2f)
4 cherry barbs (2m,2f)
2 ottoes (1m, 1f)
2-3 cories (1m, 1-2f)
I have checked my water, i made it as hospitible as i could before i put fish in, the pH is at 7.2, temp is at 26.
i dont have any other kits except hardness.

i tried to find out what sort of filter it was...but to no evail, it came with the Jebo tank, pretty much a plain white box, with instructions on teh lid.

cool thanks, lol, after all that!
How can i stop the current tahat it puts out, it annoys me a little as it blows stuff around, and when i put plants it, i dont think theyll stand too tall....or should i leave the current there!?
Hardness = 20 i think, so im told it doesn't really mean much.

Hardness means a LOT, specially coz we have really soft tapwater! Is that 20 drops?? That's what you'd keep africans in! How did you measure your hardness??

the water i had out of the tap was doub;e what it is now in hardness, i use a hardness kit made by 'Aquasonic' its in a pink case.
I took ten ml of water and added all teh shit to it, then it took 2 drops before the water changed color.
Out of the tap it took 4 drops before it changed color.

Any news on the filter...?

Hmm..i'm not sure how aquasonic do their gh test...but if it's the same as the aq. pharm. gh test, then 2 drops is WAY too low! Have you been adding the blue crystals?

Um, i'm not at work today, so i'll look at your jebo tomorrow :)

How cheap are the tetras? Thats pretty cool! I wish tetras would be cheaper here too. I could get more than. Your pretty lucky then.

When I first started in this hobby, I used tiger barbs to cycle my tank. Never lost one. Of course I probably would not do it again but its a possiblity.
