good call! You can get colourful fish that are just as active and smaller.....

here is what I would do

firefish
green gobie
watchman gobie
royal gramma

I would add these all at the same time.....and watch for any spike in ammonia and be prepared to do a water change if it registers.....

ok i am now ready to add my first fish and i just wanted to check and make sure that you still think i should add those 4 first....the only fish i have thought about adding is a black cap basslet

Basslets can be aggressive....add it last or near the end. I would think you would be okay with the above....just make sure that your tank is stable and the cycle is finished. Add those 4 and wait a few weeks before adding any others. You can get the others and keep them in quarantine for the next few weeks....

A black cap basslet will fight with a royal gramma (they're both basslets). You'd need to pick one or the other.
