Fish I wouldn't keep in a 10 (or a 55 )

Pictures pinched from other threads, but worth stickying as a reminder of the stupidity of what some shops stock. These fish get this big, and quicker than you think....

I just wanted to say that I didnt know Clown Knifes got that big, they are usually skipped on the 'big fish' list. Thanks for posting Wayne!

Here's an irredecent shark that is on another forum, kind of blurry, but you get the point...

Look at the bottom right, you can barely see a large Bala Shark

i saw a butterfly/hillstream loach labeled as a "sting ray pleco" people these days...

Irredecents and balas both get really fat like that in captivity...Don't really know why. I think the blurryness makes hime look even fatter.

well i knew one was wild and the other was captive, but what about their colors? is it from their diet? they are way different looking.

Most likely the color is due to the very different types of water that they are kept in.

Not to mention one is under sun light and the other is under florecent light.

You might be able to keep that knife fish (first picture) in a ten gallon... if you folded him over several times and didn't put any water in the tank.

Yeah, anyway, people should definitely do more research about what fish they are getting before they actually buy it from the store.

I dont know how true this is, but the owner of my LFS said that male ID sharks are sometimes darker than female ID sharks.

why the hell do stores sell bala sharks? i see the tank at my lfs full of them every trip, but yet who has the room for a school? i'm sure 80% of the people that buy fish there dont have the room for 7 or 8 balas! to buy most fish, u should have to fill out a questionaire or a quiz or something like to see if u r fit to keep these things (like adopting children and dogs)
