......Thanks for all of your advice on the who Malawi /Frontosa situation. But to tell the truth I think i am more confused then before i came on the board. I'll explaine. I came on asking weather or not the 2 breeds of fish would go well with each other, Time and Time again everyone told me that it would infact be the Malawi's that caused the havoc because of their Nature and Breed. Which is fine, I can understand (and can see for myself) that the frontosa is alot calmer then the malawi's are. Usually the Frontosa stays in his spot near some rocks unless I am feeding then he comes out. But now your telling me that it will be the front that causes the havoc by eating my fish. (? a little confused at that one).....
Basically we mean that if your Frontosa survives the others long enough to get a good size on him, he will get big enough to eat your other fish. Yes this will take time but it will come sooner than you think. Also another thing that was mentioned was that they like to be with their own kind. And you only have one....We are not trying to get on your back about this but we here get pretty offended when someone asks for advice and then doesnt use it.

I think the conflicting advice that Milo has rec'd (not necessarily here, but from everywhere) make it pretty apparant that they haven't specifically ignored our advice. Ease up a lil.

Even though there are a lot of reasons that we say getting the fish and keeping this particular fish in this particular way isn't what we'd reccomend...in the end its their tank. We all know that fishkeeping isn't black and white.

Milo - You came and asked for advice...and when you do that you open yourself up to everyone's take on the situation from the people who say "absolutely not" to the people who know nothing about the subject and pretend to and everywhere in between. You have to take everything with a grain of salt. In my opinion I wouldn't have gotten the front for that tank because of what type of care makes them 'happiest'. Just because a fish survives in a tank...doesn't mean that is an ideal situation. I could live in a 400 sq ft apartment and it'd be fine...but hey ya know I much prefer my 1800 sq ft house with a backyard for my dog.

In the end its your tank...but you have to understand that when someone comes here and asks for advice, generally the advice given is from someone's experiences...and we've seen a lot of people come here saying they're looking for advice when what they really want to hear is what they're already doing is right, and that is VERY frustrating for everyone.

Well thanks everyone for all your advice. I have decided to leave the tank the way it is because i do not see any signs of stress with the frontosa. (The red tail, now thats a different post) Once I see that the front is being agitated then I will remove him from the tank. I did concider placing him into another tank with other fronts but I was told by a few people that they don't like being with each other unless there is a bunch of them aswell as always at the LFS every front is in a tank with different cichlids. (Not sure what region but pretty sure it was malawi)

Thanks again everyone for all your posts regarding this. I do value your reponses and the knowledge you have provided me. Now alas it is friday and I must clean my tank :)
