Thanks!! What type of submersible heater is it?? Most of them, you can adjust the temperature, but others (like the Tetra Submersible Heater) have a set temperature that keeps your tank anywhere from 74-78 degrees.

Ouch!! I've never been zapped. Except for the time when I got bored and stuck my finger in a socket. Never. Again. I was laying on my back, on the floor, for 30 minutes. I couldn't feel my arm for the rest of the week. However, I am not yet afraid of sockets. When I'm bored I get stupid. That's when I need to be supervised. Haha!! Back to the heater!! I got water in my Elite 75 watt radiant heater and when I took it back to the store and told them what happened, they said that it was ok. You know what happened?? When they went to go test it, it blew up. No one (including fish) were injured, just jostled. Ha!! Tell me it's fine!! Is it Saturday?? It feels like Sunday to me??

I know!! I have a guy giving me a 30 gallon tank with a stand and lights for $15. I was thinking about putting 1 or 2 Red and White Ryukin Goldfish in there but having a filter that's originally for a 50 gallon.

Ok guys!! Here's some more pics. I have my rusty aquarium hood (please help on that), and 2 pics of my 2 week old Tiger Platy. Doesn't it look like it got its dorsal fin nipped at?? Well, that's just a marking. I watched it and noticed in the light that it still has all of its fin, it's just clear. I love the markings on the little guy though. I have so many Tiger Platy fry!!

Hello; Looks like someone replaced one of the stainless steel screws with a more common steel screw. Take one of the good ones (non rusty) to a hardware store and match it with a stainless or even better a brass one. Lowes and home depot have a big selection of replacement screws, as do many other hardware stores.

Stainless does rust, but not no quickly or badly. Brass resists corrosion even better and is common in plumbing fixtures.

There also are plastic nuts and screws that may work if the force required is not great. If you try plastic, keep a close eye on them for a while in case they melt or break.

Hello; I did auto repair and would save all the extra screws and such, so you dad may have done the same. Stainless and brass are more expensive than standard, but likely the size you need will be way under a dollar. The last small stainless bits I bought were around 15 to 50 cents each.

Try Freecycle. It's a Yahoo group...just look for one near you. I've received several free tanks just by asking, such as a 29g and a 10g. I saw someone offer an almost brand new 55g with stand, but I had just received a free 55g so I passed on that one.
