The Stealth Visi-therm are good. I use those and never gave me a problem. Use two 50 watt or a single 100 for your tank. I like to use two that way one is not working as hard. Temp is almost always right on the dot.

Has Eheim dropped the "Ebo" part and they are now just Jager heaters?
I checked Eheim's website and resellers and couldn't find "Ebo Jager", just "Jager".
i like theo's i had that one come in my 29 kit, and i really like it compared to the others ive tried. the temperature dial was acurate on mine, and it has numbers, not a + or -. also, it turns off when the water drops below level.
True. The older Visi-Therm knobs were easy to turn. The newer ones require me to take the heater off the wall, grip the knob and the heater tightly to turn it.
I have been adjusting my heater every 24 hours since for two weeks now. I can go all the way to the end of the + side and my temp still stays at 74 degrees (which is basically room temp). The little red light stays on all the time. I think I have a defective heater.
Yep...I'd say that was the problem. I can touch the glass tube and I don't feel any heat. I went to Wal-Mart this weekend but they didn't have anything that was suggested here, so I guess I will have to make a trip out of town to find a decent one.
Get those stealth visi-therms, you can always try petsmart.com it's cheaper than the stoe too. Then again print it out, and take it to the store and they will honor the price.

Thanks for telling me this. I went to PetSmart yesterday and bought one of these. The store price was for the 100w was $31.99 and the website price was $17.99 ($19.47 after tax). You saved me $15.16. It was worth making the drive rather than buying one of those crappy heaters Wal-Mart stocks. In fact, it was actually a couple bucks cheaper than WM.
