So you traded the cold for the heat! lol I have friends in Texas and they dread the summer - too hot to go outside and air conditioning costs more than heating the house.
Thats the truth!!! I moved from Michigan to Louisiana. Its more to A/C then heat thats for sure. When it gets to 90 degrees I am done!!!

My largest powerbill ever in my life was in Iowa. I kept the heat set at 67degrees. I had a charge of $474 one month.

My largest powerbill (same sized house too) in Texas was $180ish, and that was keeping the A/C set at 78.

Are you all electric in Iowa and some propane in Texas? Just curious, because my friends aren't having that experience in Texas. As you are probably aware, I live in WA state and are all electric. I have power bills that high in the winter for one or two months (maybe) - we heat a hangar and travel trailer besides the house, but in the summer it is less than $200 by quite a bit.

You just live over the hill from us! LoL. Everyone has a different definition of what "far" means to them. I don't consider anything in the U.S., too far. When our daughter was 17 she drove our car back to Michigan where we were working. When she got there, she thought she would just "hop on over to Cape Cod". (We did have to put a stop to that.) All my family are travelers.
