HornWort AKA: guppy grass

I was wondering if i cut a peice off my hornwort and put it in a tank out side would it grow a whole new plant

Hello; Breaking off sections of hornwort has worked for me many times. I do not know about the success of moving an indoor artifical light adapted plant into full natural sunlight. It could work, but may require shading or some sort of limited time exposure for a while to help it over the transition to the more intense natural light. I bet that someone has tried it.

Both will work - at least in theory. The dwarf water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) is a floating plant. The tank is a bit on the small size compared to the maximum size of the plant.
