yea they do genraly eat at night or in the cover of shade.so many of us forget that south american fish are not exposed to too much direct light as the canopy of the rainforest can be quite dense.not that i'm saying a pleco can't eat during the day.

I have a rubber-lipped pleco who gets a wafer about once a week, sometimes he is all over it and won't let my other fish near it and other times, he looks at me as if to say " yeah and???" and leaves it for my platy's to eat. I think most of the time it's really whether or not they're hungry. I also try to feed him at night after the lights have gone out, it keeps the other fish away from it, and it's when he's most active. I do make sure that I supplement his diet once a week with veggies though (Sunday night treats!!!), like romain lettuce (his favorite) or cucumber/zuccini. Maybe he's just not hungry?? How often are you feeding him the wafer?

I feed my pleco an algae wafer once a week. (every monday evening) The Zebra Danio usually comes over and bumps my pleco to try to get him away from the wafer so he can take a nibble! Mean little bugger. *laughingc It usually ends up the pleco sleeps on the wafer and eats it in the morning.
