How old are you guys? I know some of you at least are past your 20's...from the way you're acting I wouldn't have thought you'd reached your teens yet.

Ok...so Coolfish is being irresponsible by having an overstocked tank and damaging his fish' health and isn't listening to the advice you're giving but come on, is constantly harrassing him and making unnecessary harsh and unhelpful comments really the way to go?

I know most of you are only being this way because you care about his fish and are upset that he is damaging their health but a lot of your comments are way past even useful criticism. I salute plecocollector for his efforts, he (or she, sorry, I don't know  ) is at least making the effort to try and make a difference in this situation. The rest of you...if you can't be helpful (or at least civil!) just ignore Coolfish' posts, its not that hard.

All you're probably doing is convincing Coolfish that you're mean and out to get him and as a result he'll end up ignoring you all completely and hurting his fish even more, or even put them in a worse situation. Just because he is being ignorant and irresponsible, does that give you the right to be rude *******s yourselves? I don't think so!

Note: I agree with the criticism you give...his tank is way overstocked and he needs to return a lot of them, get a much bigger tank soon and buy test kits. But just because I think he is wrong, it doesn't give me a right to be a complete bitch to him.

Ok your right Intravenous. Im sry for some of the things that I said. But I think that you really need to sit down and instead of writing pity posts figure something out to save the fish you have left. If you do that then I know that you (and your fish) will be alot happier and you will get more out of the hobby.

I agree Intravenous, by bashing him everytime he says anything, you are just going to make him leave the site, and then how are we going to help him? He's very uneducated about fish, which I'm sure most of us were when we were that age, but the only way to help him is to give him advice, and most of the previous posts didn't contain any advice. An acorn doesn't turn into an oak tree overnight, give the kid some time. He's only been on this site for what, a month, and everyones harping on him because he hasn't fixed his tank since he was told to, which was like last week!

Coolfish ~ How old are you anyways? How are we supposed to help you if you don't tell us the truth? When you posted pics of your gouramis, I told you that the water was yellow. You insisted that it wasn't and your water was perfect, but the flash made it look yellow. The first step in getting help is admitting that there is a problem. Obviously, from the looks of your tank, there is a problem.

So, what fish do you HAVE to keep and what fish can you stand to let go? You really need to decide between the clown loaches or plecos, you cannot keep them both in a tank that small. You really shouldn't keep either, but if you can get rid of one that would be better than nothing. And do you really need all of those mollies?

From now on, start doing daily water changes. Take about 30% of the water out each day and add fresh, dechlorinated water. That will help with your water quality problems (fin rot, ich) And absolutely positively do NOT add anymore fish! And save your money, then you can buy yourself a bigger tank. It's time to grow up and be responsible, you can't rely on your parents forever and taking care of an aquarium, and keeping your fish healthy is a good way to start.

HI

Hello CF
Sorry to hear about your molly. I was wondering, do u perhaps have a birthday coming up that talk to your parents about getting a bigger tank as a pressie? Its worked for me in the past lol. Dont be too down, i know what its like to want more fish than you can fit into your tank, its very hard not to buy a fish when u see a nice one in the shop. I'd love more little pleco's but i've now seen the light and wont be buying any more just yet. I think i need to put a lock on my wallet lol. Anyway i hope things get better for you soon and that you get a lovely big tank for your fish to live in. Hope u dont feel like this post is downing u in anyway, i hontestly understand what its like. Dont give up hope.

I have to agree with you all- if I personally was being bombarded by people saying that I was doing something wrong and constantly bashing me, I think I'd be hesitant to listen.

I think we need to be considerate that most teens can't pull out $150+ and buy a larger fish tank right on the spot. True, I agree that some of those fish need to go, I think we need to realize that this is all new to him, and that most people don't really know much about fish when they start out (I know I didn't!), so they seek help from others on this forum.

Mosborne had some great suggestions that I think you should look at, Coolfish. I hope some of the things I've messaged to you have helped too

No way can I agree on this. If one person told me I was doing something wrong, I may or may not listen to it. But I had many people telling me the same thing then chances are that they have something important to say and would worth listening too.

I think we need to be considerate that most teens can't pull out $150+ and buy a larger fish tank right on the spot.

Seems to me that it was ruled out fairly early that a new, larger tank wasn't in the near future, so that's when adviced turned to getting rid of fish that he has. Heck I'm not a teen and I still can't pull out $150 for a new tank just because.

True, I agree that some of those fish need to go, I think we need to realize that this is all new to him, and that most people don't really know much about fish when they start out (I know I didn't!), so they seek help from others on this forum.

Seeking help and listening to the help offered are two different things. A good excuse when someone is new is to overstock a tank because they don't know any better. Still overstocking a tank when one has not only the information available to read and learn themselves, but when people actualy tell them exactly what needs to be done is no excuse.

He has said many times in many threads that should have never been started that he knows his tank's are over stocked. Ok, we get it, he knows. What he decides to do with the information given to him is up to him. So no more bashing on the guy. If you want to offer helpfull advice be my guest. We can't make him listen.

Well lets hope that you get it. If not you REALLY need to get rid of some fish, do some research and do a 50% water change. Id do the water change and the research anyway though. Your tank shouldnt be yellow!! Just to recap the advice in case you decide to listen.

Edit: This is what I think that you should do:
Get Rid Of- 1 Gold Gourami, 1 Pleco (at min.) and the Clown Loaches
Keep- Mollies, 1 Pleco, and 1 Gold Gourami
Save to get a bigger tank whether you get one for your birhtday or not start saving now
Do a 50% water change and pull out decor for a good cleaning and vaccume gravel
Take your water to your LFS to get it tested and find out where you are
Take and post another pic and maybe people will take you seriously

I couldnt have laid it out more for you. I hope that you take and use my advise.

Sometimes it's too little too late Coolfish.

You PM'ed me a short while back asking about gourami's and I told you that a dwarf gourami would be a good choice for you tank because the tank was small and the dwarf's were pretty peacefull. Yet you didn't even acknowledge my advice, so if you don't listen why should anyone try to help?

Actions are much louder thank words Coolfish. So by showing everyone that you really are making an effort into doing what is best for your fish then I'm sure that people are going to be much more willing to continue to offer help. So stop saying of what you will do, and do it.

I think you'd be best getting rid of all your Clown Loaches until you can provide them with a bigger tank. I know you like your biggest Pleco, keep him, but return the other one. I'd say pick five Mollies and keep one Gourami... pretty much everything guppy newbe said. PM me if you need anything.
