The colours of the bird are what give the fish its name. I have one and when I got it the fish was a drab brown but its been interesting watching the colours slowly come out now it is almost teal with patches of red and the most easy going fish I have ever had.

the thing about the uaru is that they tend to live in groups in the wild, and i think you could maybe get two in a 50g, so they may not be to happy.

Yes, after researching a bit, I've come to the conclusion that Uarus are not going to be happy in my tank. But they do seem like nice fish!

They (Uaru) are awful nice, but when you see them you realise they are awful bulky for the size. Also you need to keep them as groups else they are awful nervous until they pair (and reputedly die of kept singly when young).
I have nver kept them , but if I had a spare large tank might. The photos don't do them justice.

Agreed, i'd just thought i'd throw something out that you don't hear much about or anything. I was thinking a pair at the time.

I'd love to get some Uaru, and like you wayne if i had tank space i would.
