This might sound absolutely insane, but have you thought about a rosy red minnow or 5? These things are the most active fish I have ever had. I dont think the things sleep. Constant movement, so far always entertaining.

If you dont like the pink variety, have the person at petco fetch you all natural colored ones. For the 75 cents I spent for these 5 there is nothing else you could get. They are also mainly bottom dwellers and mid level dwellers, so they will stay mostly out of the platies way but still interact at feeding time.

I'll have to look and see if they carry them. They look kinda cool. Actually...I think my friend might have a couple of these in her 28gal bowfront. Her sister snuck them in there because they were supposed to be food for her snake, but her snake wouldn't eat them. And she wants to get rid of them 'cuz they are being mean to her guppies. Hrm...

Honestly, I used to feed these to my Oscars, ghost knife and eels, but these things are great. Very active and amusing. I always thought their frantic behavior was due to being afraid of the predator fish, but in reality they are just goofy as hell.

I might see if I can fit them into the new idea for the 29gal. I think I might do a paludarium with the platies, a few pygmy cories and ghost shrimp (or RCS), and a firebelly newt (or firebelly toad if I can't find the newt).

Just checked AqAdvisor and they *will* fit into the paludarium idea! Sweet! I think they'd look cool in there, too. I'm definitely going to check into getting five or so. :D Thanks, Doom!
