What about severums or convicts? As long as everybody has their own territory? I always thought jellybean blood parrots WERE the dyed ones..

Death by Dyeing.org - Shades of death

Oh wait, I actually took the time to read the thing...they are describing the jellybeans as the hybrid, much like y'all already stated! Duh! The dyed ones are called Cotton Candy parrots.

I cant get severums or convicts I have my two jellybeans in a ten gallon tank.
Correct...one parrot alone will outgrow a 10.

I was wondering if I could put a few neon tetras in with me jellybean parrots. They are kinda agressive and i was wondering also if the neon tetras are fast enought to get away from my jelybeans. I am tired of them nipping at each others fins, and if not is there any thing I could put in there?
Depends...i have seen some aggressive ones. But for the most part they cant catch them due to being a flipping hybrid and not having full mouth function.

Hey well i am a cichlid lover and i like hybrids.
Parrots being where that stops? Hybridization is running rampant and puts a damper on the fish you see in the hobby. Although i am not a fan of culling, if you were to end up with hybrid fry please do not let them find their way to a LFS.
Its sickening the fish i see come into petco...the fish farms can go really low.

I think you're confusing Blood parrots (which get large-ish) with jellybeans. Jellybean parrots stay around the 6" range, not much bigger. A 33gal would be okay for a pair, with a few smaller tankmates.

Female's are pink and have an orange belly and fins. They only grow to about 3.5 inches. Males are pink and grow to six inches. They usually breed every two weeks. I had a mated pair and they were very aggressive and territorial. I bought them when they were the size of a quarter. The male was very aggressive and would try and kill my 6 inch angel. He would always bite my hand every time I cleaned the tank. I ended up returning them because they are messy and a pain in the butt. I hope you have better luck with yours.

Jelly Bean and Bubblegum Parrots are a cross between a male convict and a female blood parrot. They are then usually died bright colors like, green, blue, pink, red, purple, etc.

The young fish is usually an albino variety which is chemically treated to strip the protective slime coat. They are then "painted" with dyes, and given another bath in a solution to stimulate the slime coat to grow back. Due to this torturous dying process, the fish have stunted growth, and rarely reach more than 3-4 inches. They also have a decreased life span due to the dyeing process. This also goes for other painted fish such as painted tetras.

There's been many cases of Jelly Beans and Bubblegums being able to mate and produce fry. This breeding is often mistaken for true Blood Parrot breeding, so don't be mislead by these reports.
I have no clue why anyone would buy such a fish and support this stupid industry...

Sigh...ottos arent colorful, and niether are cory's. If you are looking for color and just want something small to throw in then go with a school of tetras or some livebearers. Regardless...AFTER putting them in a bigger tank.

I had my jelly bean's with 10 head tail light tetras for 2 months. The parrots would chase them but they were to quick. I still have all ten.
