Needless to say it isn't going well. Patience is a vurtue here. I'll keep trying. The good news is that this is the best look of him I've had since putting him in this tank and i am pleased to report he is fat and happy plus growing well. This would be one of those fish you never see eat but yet he lives on so he must be getting something. I learned a long time ago that there are just some fish (plecs more so than others) that you just can't worry about eating ect ect...if they make it they make it and that's about the only way you can know for sure they are doing ok. Well anything short of tayking drastic measures such as providing a small confined space so you can monitore his intake and uhhh outake of food. Personally I've come to the point in the hobby where such measures are more trouble than they are worth.
I promise I'll get you guys something asap.

Ok so sorry, right after my last post...as in that night, things got a lil busy in this tank. I had to wait until the 2 spawns hatched into wigglers before robbing both sets of parents. Boy the males were pissed.

Ok and here is the long awaited pics of the L114. Sorry these are the best I could get after chasing him around the tank.
Now I can't just let this thread die after all the anticipation, so with that said, lets make this a little contest. The first person to answer both questions right can have 6 of the angel babies as a prize, just pay shipping and they are yours. They will be a mix of koi and pandas. Please don't answer unless you try to answer both questions.
#1 what other L number is this in the pic with the L114.
#2 I think the L114 is a male, he is still too small to tell for sure, but who can tell me what I am looking at that makes me believe this in this pic?

Bingo Jeff ya got it man. The plec is a 183, the mouth looks distorted because he is hanging on upside down wile I was holding the wood in my hand. And yes to question 2, for him to show that much odontodes on the caudual Pundical (sp) the portion of the tail between the caudual and dorsal fin makes me think he is a male. Females of some species can get them there too but typically it's the males that show this growth, even more so at such a small size, bout 3 inches. Far from being an adult.
