I do have one tank in front of a south window - I have a mirror for the background and that has worked well.

Just an update on the use of these marble chips:

I'm about 6 weeks into having this tank setup and stocked. I probably wouldn't use this product as substrate again. The product is perfectly fine. The bright white is not. It's like having white carpeting. It shows every turd and darkens with algae very quickly. Live and learn!

It has had zero effect on the pH in the tank. It hasn't changed per my API kit.

It doesn't look too bad here, but when you stir it up and see the difference.. Whoa!

Good to know. Looks good from afar but you can see the algae at the front in the chips. On the plus side, if you do decide to remove it at least it is pretty big chunks and easier to totally remove than sand or small gravel.

Those are LED lights on there, right? They really do light up the tank very well. I think you have a good eye for aquascaping, as there is a good balance of open space and plants / caves, and it is very appealing to look at.

Thanks CL.

The lighting is actually an Odyssea 48" twin T5 HO fluorescent w/ 6500K daylight lamps. Dollar store blue cellophane wrapping paper, backed with aluminum foil for a background.

The tall rock formation is store bought (mail ordered it). Live plants are water sprite, wisteria, anubias, java fern and anacharis.
