no change in levels yet. i have been changing water everyday. will keep on it til it finally breaks. thx

i put my Rainbow back in regular tank since it's been 6 days in hospital. his 1st hr in tank was fine; ive come bk few hrs later & he is hiding with his tail almost eaten off. trying to figure out which fish in my signature line is eating him but not sure. i did see one of the Silver Dollars messing with him but thought they were docile. hope i don't lose him. he was doing fine in the hospital. the ph has not changed much. the nitrate has come down just a smidge. let's hope he gets thru this

2 questions first, what is the the ph of your tap water second, are you using water from a hot water heater.

My vote is the the Tetras, if not one then maybe a couple or more, they are known fin nippers.

hi djm761, chkd my pH, its gone down even more (i think). the lowest number on my chart is 6.0 which is a dark yellow. not sure what mine is now; it's a very light yellow. what is that? yes, my water comes from a hot water heater. why you ask? the pH for my tap is 7.6. as for my nitrate, it's now btwn 40-80; looks closer to 40.

happy to say my Rainbow is doing fine today. back to his normal self. happy about that. only concern, the problem with his mouth has cleared up; the red spot on body is still there. hoping it goes away. it did before.

Try not to use water from the hot side, just use the cold as it does not have all the nasty stuff the hot does. How often are you doing water changes?
