ok mom said she'll think about it, and i explained it to her in a logical way (tank being MUCH more safe etc. we dont want water damage here people!!)

anyways, here is my question.

The stand dimentions that i had for the 58 are 48"long, 30"wide...since the stand is EXACTLY 48", and the length of the tank is EXACTLY 48", that should be ok right? I mean, just because there is no lip sticking out, that doesnt mean it will have a negative effect on the tank in the long run...right?
Basically, I'm trying to avoid buying a new stand for the tank. IF needed I might get another peice of wood and make the stand top bigger...

Katie, as long as the stand covers the entire base of the tank you are fine. The problem is when the tank starts to overlap the stand; you then get added force (pressure) on specific points about the tank which can cause it to crack. You want the entire weight of the tank disbursed over the largest area (which is the entire base of the tank) equally. The only thing I would imagine you have to pay attention to is the type of stand you have. Make sure your stand can support the extra weight (I don't know the quality of stand you have).

They say water weights roughly 8.34lbs per gallon (plus all your ornaments and the tank itself).

oh and if you get a new tank, sell your old one on craigslist or something, someone will pay something to do the little bit of work (but keep the money for yourself ;) ).

About the stand...
Based on your description of its dimensions, it does sound like the stand you already have will work with a 75 gal. tank. It's like kephren said, just make sure the entire bottom of the tank is on top of the stand's surface. The bottom of the tank's frame should be sitting over top of the stand's frame. You can always post some pictures (including the interior) if you're still unsure.

Usually means 'yes,' in my experience.
Me thinks Katie will have a 75 gal. tank thread soon... *thumbsups

Hmm maybe down the road my mom will let me get a 75gal. Im sure my brand new angels will love it?
Anyway make the old tank into a Reptile tank. Im sure it would make an awsome Anole settup.
Oh should i mention I FINALLY GOT THAT 30 GAL that i was supposed to get 4 YEARS ago.
