I have always heard that it is beneficial to have rock from various places as it adds diversity to your tank and unless you are creating a specific biosphere.....it shouldnt matter.

i have a crab in one of my tanks that had killed off a few tank inhabitants not sure exactly what kind it is but sounds just like whats happening to you

It's possible but not likely. If a fish died you shouldn't expect a smell or problems. I would check my system, and start wonder if it's just coincidence. But a killer bristle would not satisfy 'Occams razor' in my book.

TheFool, i checked my system, all params are ok...my tank is running since june 2004 so it's pretty stable.
If i had bad params i could have seen it coming, but no fishies are stressed and healthy specimens would not vanish in just a night.

well seeing how there are no bodies discovered something has to have eaten them up ... so whether the fish just died on its own and got eaten or just flat out got eaten either way it still got eaten by this mystery creature
