My Debate....Need Suggestions

I decided that I needed a bigger tank. MTF! lol. But now I have a 3 gallon that has no use. I am looking for suggestions about what I should with it. I would like to put fish in it but I am not sure what. Up for suggestions. *twirlysmi

I'd use it first as a quarantine tank so that whatever you add to your newer tank doesn't infect it with anything. I was just thinking of getting one myself for that purpose. But I don't know much!

Could throw in some shrimp and an african dwarf frog or 2 and a snail. Or a betta. Or possibly a few dwarf puffers. Cant put much in a 3 gallon.

ya the fish mushroomman suggested are good fish but not all of them in one tank. maybe like 2 of 2 of the sugestions he made would be fine. If it was up to me i would do a planted 3 gallon with a betta and like 2 adf's Also the quarentine tank is a good idea but a 3 gallon can't realy hold much fish...

Actually I think one DP woudl be more than enough in a three- I have one in a five and he is pretty messy. A betta would be thrilled with three gallons though. And a quarantine tank is always a good plan.

My choice would be a nice colorful betta and some shrimp. Although african dwarf frogs are very cool too.

Thanx. I just wanted to let ya'll know that I put a beautiful betta (black head and fades to blue, ends of tail are bright blue), 2 african dwarf frogs and 1 shrimp. But I think that I might get 2 more shrimp to help with the mess. O, there are also many kinds of plants.

Betta,is a great fish for a 3g. Keep any eye on the adf,as there has been reports of some bettas attacking them,but then again it depends on the betta.

actually i heard that ADF's are the best tank mates for a betta cause they dont attack them maybe people mistaken the ADF for the albino african clawed frogs and the betta didn't like the albino color or something

My betta rammed both the frogs and the shrimp and left it at that. Almost like he was telling them "Im boss". lol.

hmm lol are they still alive tho? if the betta isn't bothering them anymore then i think they are fine, what kind of shimp is it??

Yes everyone is still alive. It is a ghost shrimp that is just big enough that my ADFs wont/cant eat it. lol. I have a question. Would it be too much if I added 2 albino cories to my 7 gallon? (list is below)

it might fit.... tetras dont really need much space and have a low bioload and otos have a small one too so it might fit... also how big are you adf's??? or are you ghost shrimps just super tiny? cause adf's have really really tiny mouths that could fit one blood worm in there max. Are you sure you dont have an african clawed frog??

My shrimp is super tiny. I know that I have ADFs. Thanx for the help but I have another question. (lol) I have somehow "lost" one of my ottos. I have no idea where he went. i have moved plants and the rock to see if he would come out and I just cant find him. I have been moving a few things, could he of slipped out with them unnoticed? This is weird.

hmmm... otos aren't really the strongest jumpers (at least i dont think so) maybe it got sucked up in the filter?? you could probably check under the rocks but i doubt its there...but one time i did dig my adf up... he just wiggled out though but i was using a light kind of substrate

I FOUND MY OTTO!!! He just all of a sudden appeared. I was watching the fish in the tank and he sped past through the front of the tank. I am so glad that he is ok. YEAH!!!!!

Yes, add the albino cories - cories love to be in a group. I have two 10 gallon tanks (each of the kids has one in their room with a betta) and have 7 cories in one (albinos) and 8 cories in the other (peppered and bronze).
