After two months of cycling the tank, my 2 balloon mollies and 4 guppies are settling well in their tank. No fish has died. I've checked the water parameters: ammonia - .25, nitrate -5.0, nitrite - 0ppm, and pH- 7.6. I'm thinking of adding a live plant in it. I have a 13G blue planet tank as a starter tank and only have 11W of light. Will that suffice or I need to replace the bulb with a higher watt in addition to CO2 injection?

Many thanks! *twirlysmi

Any suggestions on what to add, change or eliminate in the tank would be greatly appreciated. I have 6 fish at the moment and still planning to add 3-4 more fishes, probably tetras.

Also, one of my mollies keeps on 'pacing' (swimming abruptly up and down). Is this normal for them, like they just get bored?

Thanks for the help. :)

Live plants are an excellent idea. It might even help with the molly pacing. He could be stressed because he doesn't have enough places to hide.
There are plenty of plants that will do just fine with your lighting. Java ferns and anubias would be great, vallisneria and cabomba should work. What kind of CO2 injection are you doing?

Hi Lauraf,

I'm not sure yet what C02 injection I'll be having. Any suggestions? Sorry I'm fairly new to all these (live plants/lights/CO2 etc). I might leave it for the meantime because my female guppy has just gave birth to 30++ fry which I didn't expect. *BOUNCINGS. The female guppy's gravid spot is still showing despite giving birth already, then when I woke up one morning it was gone, then the next day it appeared again. Is this normal? It comes and goes? Thanks heaps
