Just over a week and I can see a difference in the anubias already. And I was wrong about the abubias that I moved. It was a nana 'coffeefolia', not just a regular nana. I really like the looks of the coffeefolia, just not been able to find any in a good while.

Anubias has got to me the favorite plant of the lazy plant keeper. lol. Forgiving on light and ferts and tough as nails!

Something that I don't recall reading about but am going to try is seeing if only a rizome with roots and no leaves will begin to produce leaves. I trimed some excess off a few and just stuck the roots into the gravel. I'm just curious to see if it will start growing or not. So far they look the same, so nothing is dieing that I can tell, but no new growth yet. But it's only been a week.

Here is some Updates Photo's:

This was taken on January 15-

And this one was taken Yesterday-

I lost a lot of my crypts when they melted after I moved them. Another couple of months and they'll be back full force I'm sure. It was pretty disapointing to see so many melt like that. This was the worst case of this that I had ever had in one of my tanks. Most of the time they are really tough to being moved around a little bit.

Anyone think that I might be ok adding some White Clouds? They seem small enough, but I don't know if they would go after any young shrimp or not.

I'm surprised at how quick the shimp are growing. This is an awfull picture, but you can see the little guy on the back.

And here is a female carring a good bunch of eggs around.

Great pics, Orion! That one at the bottom of the shrimp carrying her eggs is spectacular.

The top pic of your tank is a great reference point for me as far as plants are concerned (I have little to no experience when it comes to plants). Can you recommend any of these that might be suitable for my 12 gallon tank? The tank has platies in it (...1 male, 3 females...and plenty of fry on the way *celebrate), but I don't want the platies devouring up all the plants.

I'm already familiar with java fern, java moss, and anubias to some extent.

What if I can't find these types of plants...Any other recommendations that are "platy-safe"?

Thanks.

I've kept platies before, but haven't heard that they are plant nippers.

You just about can never go wrong with anubias. They are hardy, the thick leaves help deter any plant eaters, and don't require a lot of light to grow well.

Crypts are also well, and many are well suited for a 12 gallon tank.
