MY TANK ABSOLUTELY STINKS

Carbon could work.

I found that my "tanks" smell sometimes as well, but it's not the tank themselves, but usually water I've spilt somewhere that is now harboring molds. I had to shampoo the rug in front of my tank once because I spilt a whole lot of water on it that reeked.

If I feed the fish an especialy protien rich diet such as color-enhancing food, or the catfish tabs, I'll usually get a smell the next day. This is your goldfish tank yes? Sometimes, goldfish smell, mine are usually a bad BO stink, which is pretty funny since my laundry hamper is next to the tank! When the water gets too warm, it smells. If I let it go a day over the schedualed waterchange date, it smells. When I'm PMSing and highly scent sensitive, it smells.

I've never had issues with my biowheels smelling.

Carbon and frequent water changes are a good way to get rid of fishy smells, especially if the fish are healthy and the tank mature.

Hi Colesea!

That's what I thought!! I am doing partial water changes twice a month with one goldfish.

I am ordering 2 more.

1 Panda Telescope and

1 Chocolate feathertail telescope

Can't wait... I will do weekly water changes with them in the tank.. I will possible get one more this time a Black/blue Oranda..

I saved this fish, from all sorts of diseases and am happy to see him healthy now..

When I get the new ones next week, I will put them in a quarantine tank for a month and treat them for possible parasites, to be absolutely sure they don't contaminate the large tank... With these precautions they should all be happy as clams and live a healthy life, as I keep up good tank maintenance!

Papillon Where are you getting your Panda from?

I've wanted a Panda so bad, but my tank is way overstocked with the six goldfish and two catfish I already have (it's a 29 gallon). I'm up to bi-weekly water changes with how big they are. Once a week is a good gravel-vac, the other time is a simple suck-an'-dump re-fresh. Weekly are usually pretty good, and the most they've ever gone without a water change is two weeks, but after that I really overhaul and clean the tank.

Goldfish are great, they live soo long and they have such personallities. I wouldn't trade any of my current babies for all the Pandas in the world.

I have a WONDERFUL LFS near me, here is the website. I am ordering the fish from here. The guy said he would be able to get the Panda, but not sure about the Chocolate one. I am bringing my great book of fancy goldfish, written by a vet with me!!

I can't wait to get them... You are in NY so you may have heard of them, if you are closer to Jersey it's certainly worth the trip. They have everything you could possibly ask for, and they have marine biologists on staff etc ... The owner is a leader in knowledge etc in fish keeping etc and has given lectures at the NYC aquarium...

Enjoy,

Marie

Usually yes!!!! It's just it's a major issue and on top of it, I have stupid brown algae which sucks... My sense of humour isn't as lively as it usually is, too much stress, that's why I stare at my fish all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tested my tank and everything is at 0...

Getting my 3 other fish tomorrow, 2 blues and a red, unless I change my mind...

LoL I never ever thought that the biology I took last year would be of use. If you have to much algae in your tank that can cause a “fishy” smell. You might even have free floating algae that you cannot see. Try a algae killer and see if it helps

This advise is trademark of JKO entertainment if printed without permission you might make me cry like a little girl............. sniff
