We are talking about the freshwater leaf fish right?  I think there is also a saltwater one too but I have links for the freshwater.

And yes, the cardinals are hardier fish than the neons.

I Can get cardinals between .25 and .60 cents depending on the size i want!!  Amazing huh?

Its gonna be awhile before I get fish though.  I just tested my water.

PH 7.6-7.8
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
KH and GH are almost off the chart!

This is only the second day its been running...so not a big shock.  I havent added anything to treat the water yet....cause I havent had time to go get what I need....but payday is Monday....so I'll get it then.  I ordered a BUNCH of live plants.  They should be here on Wednesday.  So hopefully that will help out a lot.

Wish me luck!!

Actually from my readings on cardinals..not expierence, I read cardinals really should not be kept in hard water with minimal Ca2- and mg2-. The hard water can cause damage in the kidneys due to calcium salts causing blockages.

On a plus side, As It states most cardinals are wild caught(can't count on this)

Neons, can tolerate hardness in water(from expierence), and once you get past the first few weeks, can live years and years in a tank.

But neons can also contain the deadly Neon tetra disease. They also , recently in my purchases of them are not as hardy as they used to be around here.

Just some thoughts.

no fish will be added untill the water is much much softer.  Hopefully the plants will help with this and I have to get some addatives and conditioners for the water also.  Just waiting till pay day :)

When Franky099 Said:

"I Can get cardinals between .25 and .60 cents depending on the size i want!!  Amazing huh?"

tabby360 said:

"Where are u getting ur fish. my neons are 1.50 and my cardinals are 1.50 too. I get mine at petsmart."
