They get eaten. Well that and the plecs really do take up a LOT of room. I've had many more species, but these are the ones I've decided to keep.

The Rummys are great with the Discus, The lemons are too big for the Sevs to eat, the green fires are actually VERY rare on the east coast, and where a gift from a pleco importer from Germany that I have befriended. If I ever see more you can bet I will buy them.

Don't even ask how much the Go Obo Gudgeons cost..I'm kinda surprised no one has asked about those. I mean.....for real people, talk about rare.

When ya coming up for a visit??

Mr Mouse, they were the feature article in TFH a few months ago. They were just discovered less than a yr ago. Right now 6 1.5 inch juvies is going for 80 bucks on aquabid. Tanner (rarefishinlax) seems to be the only person I know of who has a steady supply of them.

About 4 hrs my bald headed Irish friend. It used to be much worse, but since I got a python with an extension (making it about 100ft long) water changes have become pretty easy.

PC, Tell them you have something important you want to see. Heck we can make a day of it and go down to St Augustine. Now that is a cool little city!

Wait - I disappear for a few weeks (ok, a couple months) and all of the sudden you've got new L134's - and from a breeder in my back yard, no less!

I have the worst timing, lol.

Hmm... Perhaps this breeder is someone whose acquaintance I should make...

Jeff :D the 2 boys are of age and are in their second week of the dry season in the spawning tank as we speak. I won't drop the tank into the rainy season until I see my girls fat with eggs again, but hopefully it won't take more than another week or so.

I think I've given you his info as well. We didn't know he had them. We just made a wanted thread on PCF and he emailed us. Talk about luck huh. Guy has had them for some time and hasn't been able to get them to do their thing, so he wants us to give it a whirl.

Silver, both are good choice, question you need to ask is how large of a plec do you want? 103 should stay under 4 inches and needs wood in it's diet. The 106 gets up to 8 inches and is omnivorous with plant tendencies.

I have two questions.

#1 - Why are Pl*cos named in the fashion they are? (i.e. L134)

#2 - Pure...where in the hell do you keep all these tanks????
#1 The L numbers were first introduced into the hobby from the German publication DATZ. It was a means to an end to actually give the different species a name of some sort for the hobby. The problem was and still is that the species are being discovered at such an alarming rate that the scientific community can't keep up. It has become next to impossible for them to scientifically ID them and give them a scientific name. So they are now given L numbers until they are IDed. However the L numbering system has become so popular that they normally keep the L number even after a positive ID has been made. Currently there are a little over 400 L numbers with an estimated 150 or more awaiting even an L number. Example The identification publication Aqualog, the most resent edition Aqualog Loricariidae (plecos) was released some time around last November. From the time of its publication until it's release 51 new L numbers had been handed out and are missing from the book. It stops at L350 Currently I believe L401 is the highest number. L numbers are given by visual ID and location of collection. The only problem with them is, the same species can have more than one L number simply because they were discovered in an unrelated ditch 2 miles away from the original discovery of that species.

2: Literally in every room of my house including our 2 very large bathrooms. The one upstairs has a sauna in it that has been converted into a shrimp room. The one down stairs has a BN breeding pond in it. Our 3rd unused bedroom has been converted into a den/fish room. The room itself holds 7 tanks (1 29 being the smallest) wile the very large closet houses 14 tanks rack style. The tanks 10s, 20s, and 30 gallons.
