Just keep an eye open Mr. Mouse, with any luck one of us may get lucky and they'll breed then I'm sure we'll have more than we know what to do with!

To clarify, no they did not directly come from Rapps. The guy I got them from got his from Rapps..;) And to best of my knowledge Rapps is the only source for wild specimens.

LOL and I know exactly who your talking bout...tis where mine came from. His pic is one of Rapps. Dude lives in GA. He hasn't had any available in a very long tim tho :(.

Give us time Mr mouse we are working on it.

Wow. I'm new to cichlids, but it is very obvious to me that you guys know what you are doing. Those are amazing looking fish. I've been reading the threads on here religiously for about three weeks now, following suggestions and having good luck keeping my little guys alive. All I can say is that those pictures are a great testament to the knowledge you possess and thank you for being generous enough to share it with the rest of us!! Good luck with breeding them.

Thanks for the nice words everyone :)

Just a quick update: I've been doing more frequent water changes and been feeding rather heavy and I have seen a huge difference in color in the female and the dominate male. The male's color pattern accros the body has become much more pronounced, and the anal fin on the female looks as if it's about to catch on fire it's so red!

Oh if I could only get some photo's of how they really look lol.

BTW- I like my new weedwacker, works great!

how to photo?

Nice, Orion,

Whenever I try to take pics like this they are blurry or the camera focuses on the background instead of the fish. Any tips or do you just have a nice camera?

A good camera helps. For a not so good camera your best bet is to take as many pics as you can. Sometimes it takes more than 100 just to get one decent one. What do you have to loose, it's not like your gonna run outa film.

PS. I know this is probably going to embarrass me, but what does lol stand for? and Tessalion's btw? It took me about three days to figure out lfs. And a couple more for IMO. But the ever popular lol eludes me!

lol is short for laughing out loud.
btw is by the way.

A lot of this is internet speech or quick texting abbreviations. I don't like them so much but I guess people are just too lazy to write out the words. Whatever floats your boat.
