And yes, he's being nice to both of them.
The size difference (he's around 5"; the two young females are about 1.5") seems to be helping quite a bit. Male sees them as no threat. Once the females are ready to spawn, he'll end up with one of them. The non-paired female (especially if it happens to be that gorgeous red one) will go into the oscar's tank.
