Headed to store after kids get on bus.

Another question....should I have small pump/aeration rock combo in the tank to produce air bubbles?

Just did 50% change. Will post numbers from before change today and when I get back from store.

Bubblers are mostly decoration so it's up to you. They do agitate the surface of the water which helps with gas exchange and brings more oxygen into the water which is a Good Thing but you're filter probably does enough of this to be sufficent for your fish.

Thanks. Will leave the decorating to the kids.

Did a 50% change this morning. I added Ammo Lock (makes the ammonia less toxic) and conditioner to the new water prior to adding to tank. These are before/after results

Pre water change
Ammonia - 1.5 (maybe a touch higher but not 2.0)
Nitrite - .5 - .75
Nitrate - 20 - 30

Post water change
Ammonia - 1.0 - 1.5
Nitrite - .25
Nitrate - 10

Also was able to get a nice size piece of driftwood from store. Clerk said it was in tank for a long time. Took it home in its own water and added to tank.

More after tomorrows change!

Quick update.....2/7. All fish seem happy and active. New levels today

Pre 50% water change
Ammonia - 1.5 (ugh)
Nitrite - .25
nitrate - 20
PH - 7

Post water change

Pre 50% water change
Ammonia - 1 (Used a small amount of ammo lock to diffuse ammonia)
Nitrite - .25
nitrate - 10
PH - 7

Hoping the driftwood I added yesterday will help.
