As many as you can fit in the space you have? Its what i would say. Of course you must consider each coral, as some release sweeper tentacles at night that could sting and harm other coral. Even during the day, not all coral can sit right next to each other. I don't really think coral realese wastes though (or at least not a lot?) so its not like its overloading your bioload.

Yep, there's really no limit to the number of corals you can have. However, you should be careful with what you put in there, especially as it's a small tank. A large leather, for example, could negatively affect LPS you have. Some corals just get too big for a small tank, so think about that when you're choosing, too. Also, bear in mind that while you can mix soft corals and LPS, mixing SPS with corals that prefer a nutrient-rich tank will put one set of corals at a disadvantage.

I went on Aquariumguys today and I saw a 12 gallon Aquapod. It looks cool and it comes with filter, 2x27w and 160 gph pump. Does anyone have this and is willing to comment on it?I'm going to start looking for retrofits for it.

The Aquapods are pretty nice. Did you decide on which corals you want yet? If you're not going for SPS, the Aquapod will work for other corals. If you want an all-in-one system, get one that's already set up with MH lighting. There's no point in spending that kind of money then replacing the lighting.

thanks. I was planning on replacing the lighting on it the 12 (I'm kind of young and my Mom doesn't want me upgrading a larger one BUT I'll look into it). I might change out the 27w ballast for 32w or 40w ones. Not sure I want to spend the money on them until I get the Pod and take a look at it. Has anyone had any experence in changing the ballasts in an Aquapod?

Wow! Theres a thread on nano reef .com ( [Aquapod 12] mods! Let's see em! - Nano-Reef.com Forums has some awosome mods for the 12! Theres are 4 unused chambers on the hood that there will be water flowing through. Because its summer (almost), heat is going to be a HUGE issue. So, heres what i'm planning:

Switch out the 35w 230gph pump with a MJ 20w 235gph pump

Add a computer fan to the feeding door (using a 9w adapter)

Running live rock rubble in one of the chambers

Using carbon and different chemicals (as needed)

Last but not least...Removing the ballasts from the hood. ( I'll save the retrofits for the future)

Another great link....

Any comments?

Cool! However, this entire tank is in the balance because I have no idea how much money i'm giong to get for graduation. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch!

Graduation= 18 days(13 of which are school days)
