I had a power outage and the lack of oxygen was not the issue. it was the middle of the winter and my tanks are in the basement and we have a wood stove upstairs. the basement got down to about 45 degrees. cichlids do not do well at those temps lol

It's good to see you have several filters running. That's an important factor when you have a lot of fish in a tank, mostly for the oxygenation.

One thing to be aware of if you know your tank is overstocked is that if there's a power outage, you need to have something to get oxygen into the tank. A couple of battery-powered air stones will work (if there's a power outage, put the stones near the surface of the tank). When you have a lot of fish, they'll soon start running out of air if the power goes out.
I didn't know about battery powered air stones. some time in the mid 90's we lost power for almost a day and it was hot over 100 degrees in the house it didn't take more than 4 hours for the water to start clouding up and it wasn't much longer than that when the fish started swimming with their noses out of the water, they where some very unhappy fish, I will check into these air stones. thanks for the tip

The cooler temp's probably worked in your favor as far as oxygen levels would be concerned, but I know the fish don't like the cold either

My fish eat fresh shrimp and seafood more then I do LOL!!!!
All the talk about fish food and feeding you mite enjoy this, we didn't think this guy was going survive the internal parasites, I was hand feeding the fish in the hospital tank and ounce the chocolate started eating there was no stopping him he learned that he could jump out of the water to steal food intended for other fish. now he's hand fed every day and insist on jumping for food, I think he considers that play time. this video dosn't show that because it is the first time I used this camera and was alone so I had to prop the camera, he was about done eating and had to be coached when I finally got a good video clip.

oh i know the cold helped with the oxygen as oxygen leaves the water easier with warmer temps. but once it got down to about 55 degrees my fish started to act funny and started to swim in corkscrews and once it hit 50 they started to die off.
