What type of gravel vac do you have? I have sand in one of my tanks and I almost always suck up some sand.
You never said what size the tank is. If you are using medicine and have carbon in the filter, you will need to remove the carbon.
What do you do for petco?
I do not use ANY chemicals in my tank but a good declor, I use tap water conditioner by API, but a lot of the folks here like Prime.

this is the first time I've ever had problems with a tank. I used to have 8 freshwater community tanks, one cichlid tank and a 55 gallon salt tank(not a reef tank). I had 4 generations of livebearers in my community tanks (hints why so many lol) it's been awhile since I've had a tank this small that wasn't a growing tank. I have jumped right back into this wonderful hobby though and I am looking forward to trying some more challanging fish. Thanks so much for all the help everyone had given me on this topic!
