Pleco for a large SA tank

OK as I mentioned in my "What a weekend" Thread, I've recently lost my Common Pleco. I was planning on having him in with my Oscars and their future other SA cichlid tankmates. Now, I never planned on having the pleco, just kinda got attached and figured that's the only sane option for him. So, since I'm not set on Commons, but I do want something fairly large, what would be my best options? Maybe even a couple? This setup should be in the 220gal range with plenty of rocks, driftwood, etc... so not much restriction on territories.

Any favorites? Something different? Pure?

PlanetCatfish :: Cat-eLog :: Loricariidae :: Ancistrus ranunculus

Or the purty version.

PlanetCatfish :: Cat-eLog :: Loricariidae :: Ancistrus sp(l255)

These guys get way to wide for them to be eaten. And since they are both BNs they will do a good job of algae clean up.

I've seen both type available on aquabid by a seller named DGA (Rob). If you email him he will most likely keep his eyes on the import sheets for you and let you know when they come in. Last time he had some of the spotted ones he only wanted 45 bucks for a 5-6 inch fish. Considering how rare they are that isn't a bad price for one so big.

LOL Pure is pleco king and he has "almighty knowledge" LOL. Had to include him in.

The madusas don't have a purty version! LOL They creep me out a bit. I LOVE the L114 though. Those flamin fins are awesome! :)

Any other oddballs?

L065 is another pretty one that gets to be a good size. There is one available ATM on aquabid at a decent price. Is the only one I've seen in at least a yr. AquaBid.com - Your Aquatic Auction Website
PlanetCatfish :: Cat-eLog :: Loricariidae :: Pseudacanthicus sp(l065)
The seller seems to be an alright guy. I know a couple of people who have bought from him and so far no complaints. Tho he does need to work on his pic taking skills.
He also has a scarlet up.

And at 10 inches you certainly wouldn't have to worry bout it getting eaten. Most large plecs besides commons, gibbys, and L001s do not really grow very fast. 1-2 inches a yr so that is something to take into consideration when picking one out to be housed with predators.

You can also keep a Royal in a tank that large with no issues. My royal is an L330 and are the only royals (summin like 10 types) that have spotted bellies. You can see my girl here. PlanetCatfish :: Cat-eLog :: Loricariidae :: Panaque cf_nigrolineatus

Oooo I like that one too. Maybe an albino sailfin? Still looking to see the options, I have months untill I get the tank, although I want to get them in time to QT and make sure everyone is of compatable size before I get the tank.

*Edit: Oops, missed Pure's post, Yeah, I like that scarlet one! LOL I was considering royals, but after seeing the damage they cause, I'm a little weary.

Albino Gibby isn't going to be easy to find. But would be sweet!

Hey PC AquaBid.com - Your Aquatic Auction Website

What the blizard catus? Or the 134?
I love those Goldies, but they get so big! When I get that 265g tank that I saw at Big Al's, hugged, and then begged my dad for, I'll grab myself one. It'll probably be a good 10 years from now, but I will get one! :p

134s stay fairly small, right? I was wondering about the Blizzard Cactus :)

Blizzards like their brethren get to be a good size. I'm not sure of the actual length but you know it's some where from 10-16 inches.

134s stay just under 4 inches. but do have some girth to them. I would suspect that is why such a stubby plec has 20-30 eggs in a single spawn.

BTW I've started the rainy season this week. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, big price jump, but I expect to pay upwards of $30-$40 for a not-so-common pleco. :)

No problem, I don't keep up with it either, I was just scanning the plecos to see if anything called out to me. I mainly use the pics there to jumpstart my memory for stock plans, not much else LOL. I can't find anything about a min order though.

Well well, what might you have available here in a while? LOL
