im pretty bored right now cuz im waitin to go to work...and somethins been on my mind for a while so i decided to post about it

im thinkin bout gettin a 75g tank for my room when i raise enough money.. i want to do a large main fish for the tank like an oscar or something..all the oscar hype is gettin to me lol

i have a couple questions about this type of setup...is a bare bottom better for a large single fish like an oscar? and what type of other fish can be kept with oscars cuz ive know silver dollars and maybe tiger barbs?

i also am still thinkin on the type of fish i like oscars but i was thinkin maybe something not so common even tho oscars are really cool...something like a red devil...any more ideas?

well thanks for reading this and any opinions/info/thoughts are appreciated

First off...get substrate for that tank! *crazysmil
I'd be interested in trying out a female red terror (A. festae).
Do a google image search for these, and you'll see how stunning they are! Pretty aggressive too, if I'm not mistaken. Flowerhorn is up there on my list as well...oscars too, of course. ;)

Definitely lots of possibilities...

WOW!! i didnt expect this much feedback and so fast!! =0 thanks everyone!!

well i dont know much about the jags but i will do some research on them

but in my head right now its kinda between the oscar and red devil.. we have a couple small red devils in my store and they are so cool cuz they arent pure red but have blackl on them...some people say that it ruins them but i think that they look awesome!! and then there is just that thought lingering in the back of my mind that keeps saying oscar oscar oscar!! because that was the original plan.

but like i said i have a while to think about it..im waiting on a couple paychecks but there are some other things that the money is needed for before this tank...but this is near the top of my list on my to-do list.

im going to go do some research now on some other possibilities and i will be back and post some info or new ideas!!

lol katie

igor, does a jack dempsey get large enough to inhabit a 75g by himself? and i just dont think they have enough personality...idk it is another option to think about

also i read up on the jag and it says that at least a 125g is recommended, but it does look like an amazing fish!

well i made a list with some of the options. 1 being most interested and so on

1.0scar
2.Jack Dempsey(reg. or blue)
3.Red Devil
4.Green/Red Terror
5.Texas

A jaguar would be up there near the top but i think it gets to big for a 75g.

a breed pair of JDs would be awesome in a 75.

and Jags def dont need a 125, was it Avalon who had a breeding pair in a 70?

cheers

I would go for go for the pair of JD's or an Oscar. I personally like the look of oscars better but I've seen some nice JD's. The electric blue kind would be cool to have IMO.

From experience, Oscars are far from a boring fish. Meaty is such a character, plus I love the looks of Oscars too. Green Terror is also a good idea, if you get one as nice as Sinister Kisses though ;)
