Fishman1995 - if you are going to take on the responsibilty of a pet, you must provide for it. Not doing water changes is the same as leaving your dog or cat in a room standing in their own feces and urine. There is no excuse.

I currently have 8 aquariums. I do not own a 'python' gravel vacuum. I do not even have the gravel vacuum that has the bulb you pump. I have a totally manual syphon that you must put the entire thing underwater, put your thumb over the smaller end of the tube and then drain it into a bucket. I do not gravel vacuum my tanks at all, because all are heavily planted. But I do change 25-30% of the water weekly. Without fail. Even when I had the flu for 2 weeks. Even when I was hospitalized for 4 days. The day I got out of the hospital was fish tank water change day. Guess what I did? Changed the water.

When I was a kid, I took care of my family's fish aquarium. I had a cat too, took care of a neighbor's pets when their owner was in a bad car accident and couldn't go outside to care for their dogs, cats, a horse, two ponies, a goat, chickens, and rabbits. It took me from the time I got home from school until dark (or later) to feed, water, and clean out all of the cages and enclosures the animals stood in.

If you have given up on taking care of your fish, rehome them now. Don't let them suffer the fate of your bettas and catfish.

Honestly, if you cannot keep fish healthy now, I would find it hard to believe you would take care of them properly when you have your own house.
When I was a kid: I had to walk 10 miles in the snow, uphill both ways, just to feed my fish.

Finally, someone who isnt biast talks, and i appologize if calling them biast offends them but thats what it is. Anyways for you two new guys :D i did a 25% water change on my 20 gallon earlier which clouded the water oddly enough? oh and also, i did a 100% water change on my 5.5 gallon and ive gotten a Female Betta who ive named Electra. Ive also putten up a calender and put down beside every day on every wensday and saturday a lil "wc" standing for water change as a remineder and im gonna be picking up one of these manual siphon thingys as soon as i can get the money for it and hopefully a small bucket.

Not funny, only reason i posted was for the new people, wasnt talking to you, or MK who have REALLY ticked me off because you cant let ANYTHING that happened in the past STAY in the past. Its like you have a lil bag on your side and you throw stuff in there to bring back up in the future.

What do I "continue to bring up" from the past, the fact that you keep loosing fish or do not take anyone’s advice? Because I am sorry to say, that is not the past it is the present? Once again we are here to help, you choose not to heed our advice and you keep loosing fish. I do not remember anyone saying go out and buy a new fish and put it in a tank ASAP! I suggested as did many other members to take some time on this one, figure out what really happened, clean the tank VERY WELL and go from there. You ignored this advice however. That is your purgative, but it gets old…..fast.

We've ticked YOU off? How do you think we feel? A lot of us are beyond caring now fishman, we're bored of you. We bring up past events that are relevent, we wouldn't have to bring them up if you actually learned from your mistakes. And anyway, you said your betta died the other day. That's hardly long ago.. And "Oh all my fish are dying but it's fine I'll just buy a new one"? Love your logic!

Btw we're not BIAS (note, no "t"). We're just sick of the same story and vicious cycle of major problem - we advise - you ignore advice - we get irritated and try to reiterate our point - you accuse of of being mean and bias - we disagree - you "leave" - a week later, new problem and it all starts again. It's irritating and clogs up the forum and frankly wastes our time. So stop jumping on everyone and playing victim when actually it's no one's fault but your own.

Jeez, seriously guys, just starve the troll.

Ok...first, I'm sorry for your losses Fishman. I hope things go better for the new girl.

Next, You guys need to stop fighting. He's obviously in it for the fishes best interest. Even if he doesn't do things the way *WE* think best, for the most part, he listens to us. Did he not return the turquiose cichlid? Did he not clean the 5gal? Did he not cycle the 20gH before adding the rest of his fish?

If I may, I remember on another forum, all these people flaming me about my tanks when I did WCs weekly and gave them the best care I could despite running out my money on them[still true] even arguing about how I take care of my cats, insisting there was a free spay place, acting like they knew my town better then me. I checked *EVERYWHERE* and no place offered free services and then they just called me an idiot for not knowing where to look[I was 14 and I'm just now 18 and able to say exactly what I think in that case]. So to me, some of your posts are not better then theirs to fishman. Sometimes you have to give people a break and not come down on them for EVERYTHING they've done wrong or laugh at them wanting to leave because of people being rude.

Granted, I don't always agree with what he does, but there is no reason to act rude and with the exception of one person, I have felt like you've all been rude...and FM, you have to be nice to them and listen to what they say because they are very intelligent too. Also, they are in it for your's and the fish's best interest. If you defy them, you can understand why they'd be angry, but atleast you're seeming to try your best for the fish...

Yes, well said, but I don't think, all things considered over the last year or so, I've been out of line in what I've said, and I still stand by my opinion.

I don't expect him to do things the way I do them. I do, however, expect that when I give advice, where asked, it'll be listened to and taken on, and at least acknowledged.

I'm very very bored of this constant drama now.

Actually, I have a suggestion. How about we leave this thread to die and move on rather than dragging this out, as it has been every single other time this has happened.

Fishman, if you have a problem with the way I give me advice, or want to respond to the above, PM me and say what you need. I won't be "arguing" on a thread and clogging up the forum with this ridiculous issue again.

I wont need to be Pming any of you, one of the regulars whom you'd be very suprised, PMed me and offered help in a calm collective way. In my opinion its always the same people hammering me EVERYTIME. Misterking, being the main one, and i dont appreciate it at all. Thou il take your offer if i feel that my mentor cant answer a question il PM the person who i feel would know it best. I however, am taking a break from the site except the PMing
