re: mineral oil for background

mineral oil

Mineral oil can be purchased at walgreens or a pharmacy
it is very inexpensive.
It is often used to season butcher blocks and cutting boards because it is thin, tasteless and oderless.
Just a thought oh attaching a background with it..
I am curious if the edges will stay attached.
As a oil this one will eventually dry and get gummy..
be sure to post your results!

luck to you!

As the pharmacist or clerk. It comes in small bottles. Doesn't cost much.

No it doesn't get gummy. You smear a thin coat on the entire glass then lay your vinyl background on it, with a squeegee or credit card work from the center to the edges. Wipe off the excess oil and the surface tension between the vinyl and oil will adhere it until you are ready to peel it off.

VERY easy to remove ... that's the beauty of it. Just peel the back off, clean the glass with alcohol or vinegar, dry and you can begin again. Mineral oil is clear, thin, and non-toxic ... human beings take it internally sometimes to keep "regular" ... probably more info than you needed to know. . . lol.

hey revred! just wanna clarify something... can i use a baby oil instead of a pure mineral oil? coz i've checked the ingredients of the baby oil and it only has two things in it: mineral oil and fragrance. so is it possible to use it coz it's cheaper than mineral oil...
