high there...need 3 fishies...
to go with the guys below...

size as an adult...3 inches...
[maybe 3 and a half]...
they have to be happy in a group of three...
i'd like them to be colourful...and peacefull...

kinda like dwarf gouramis...but bigger...
as i think they max out at 2.5 inches...

[edit]...as for color...yellow...gold...steely blue...
nothing red or orange or silver...maybe black... :)

water temp in me tank is 24cel...75faren...
ph is 7.2...
hardness...dunno yet... :)
no live plants so far...
water params are all fine...
changes...10% every other day...

so please if you have a mo...recommend-a-fish... :):)

You don't mention what part of the tank you would like them to occupy. Considering you were thinking along the lines of a dwarf Gouramis I would guess you want something that lives in the mid to upper levels. With that said, I would suggest a small group of celebes rainbows. Very colorful yellow based fish, that gets along best in groups of at least 3. With their slender body and slightly smaller than what your looking for in length you can easily stock 4 or 5.

They are a great fish and particularly fun to watch the males showing off for the females.

Don't get us wrong, The Celebes are not small like your tetras, they are pushing the 3 inch mark. But their bodys are far more slender than gouramis, so stocking a couple more than 3 would be possible. But they will do fine with a small shoal of 3.

cool pure...no worries...i might check them out...

wot i was after was something slightly larger than my platties...
they are very solid...and robust...kinda chunky...

i want three serene cruisers as a feature...
calm in amongst the midst of me frenzied freaky tank... :)

[it's gonna get nuttier...i'm gonna add more corries and neons... :)]

ps...i cannie help it...I JUST LOVE CORRIES...YEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ... :)

I would recommend 3 Serpae tetra (a.k.a. Red Minor). I just bought three myself and they have a light red color and tend to schoal extremely well. They are a tight nit group at 3, although they can be a little skittish, they do roam around the tank when i am more than 2-3 feet away from them. I don't know if you wanted the fish to be multiple colored or just a different color from the list.

and they seem to be violent towards other fish...

~Bolivian rams~ ;)

Serpaes tend to be quite nippy. Most tetras prefer larger groups than three but can manage with three. How about some Bosemani rainbows? They prefer groups of 6, but can do with less.

I would suggest Long-fin Rosy Barbs. I'm not sure how big they get, but they are very pretty. I have 2: one is silver, but I think as he gets used to the tank he'll get his color back, and the other is red and green. Both have small black spots near their tail. They swim all over and don't bother anyone. Good luck with your searching.*twirlysmi

Boesmani rainbows also get up to 5-6 inches, I believe.
I've never seen any that big. More like 3 - 4" Here's a link to a description: http://www.timstropicals.com/Inventory/Rainbows/BosemaniInfo.asp Cyber can do some further research if they appeal to him.

I'm still lobbying for Bolivians. ;)

Nobody - your silver rosy barb is likely a female, so she won't get more colorful as she adjusts to your tank - females are silver/gold, only the males get the coloration you describe for the other one. Cyber doesn't want any silvers or reds, so they're not what he's looking for, but they're nice fish. Easy to breed also. :)

hey hey...not too keen on the look of the rams...not pretty... :)
imho...of course... :)

and all the info on those pesky serpaes point to nippyness...no good...

but whoa...hang on a minute...those rainbows are something...
i'll try and track down some...if their size is 4inches...

there seems to some debate on the 'net regarding their max length...
the consensus appears to be four inches in a tank...six in the wild/pond...

those guys might be just the ticket...
3 of those...and a few other guys...and i'm fully stocked... :)

... ... now ... ... where can i clear a space in me garage...
... to install a one hundred gallon show-piece... :):)
