Would it help if I were to put water in the tank from my ten or twenty gallon tanks? Would it be a sign of "good for plants" water if a tank is completely overrun with algae to the point where you can barely see a fish? Algae is basically a very tiny plant so I would think that'd be a good sign. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The water will have nitrAte in it so it will fed the plants for a while You still need to get fish in it or get some Ferts for the plants so they will continue to grow.

M'kay thanks. Once I get it set up and running, I'm going to try to get Bio Spira and then some "feeder" guppies from Birds Galore. The owner really doesn't like it when I get feeders instead of a pair of fancies. LOL I just think it's a waste of money. Especially if something goes wrong and that four dollars worth of selective breeding dies.

I did the same thing. Got my 75g up to temp and added used gravel from my other tanks. Added some Feeder guppies. It cycled in a week or so.

The plant will help reduce the algea problem. To really get rid of it you need to find the cause of the Algea problem. What plants are they?

BTW I don't really mind the algae. It's just kinda annoying and blocks the view of my "algae eater." I'm thinking of getting one of those magnetic things to clean off a couple of the tank's sides.

I would put them in the Algea infested tank for mow you can always move them. I have a Mag Float I just clean the front glass.
