The golden rule of hamsters is "One Hamster to One Cage". Otherwise they could kill each other. I will talk to my mom about putting the hamsters in the 10g's and the fish in the 55g.
Or they'll breed like crazy. Anyway, I agree with Thyra and Hanna. Two 10g will be fine for 2 hamsters. A 55g will be big enough for tons of Mollies and other fish. Maybe you can get some more Cories for a school of them.

What's so much work? The bigger the tank the easier it is to take care of. Your fish will love it! I upgraded a few weeks ago from a 36 gallon to a 55 gallon and my mollies loved it. Just think how much yours will going from a 10 gallon!

But it seems like so much WORK!
Fish are a lot of work. you should've looked up that stuff before you started in the hobby!! Some people with huge 120g freshwater tanks will spend tons of money for the upkeep. Imagine a saltwater tank..MORE WORK!! The Nipsco bill (that I swiped a look at while my dad was reading it) went up $50 for the lighting alone. Imagine the prices for the conditioners and food for your fish.

It sounded like a great plan to me, but my mom just said that I don't need any more fish, and we have a plan all worked out already for the hamsters. Maybe in a year or two she will let me change the 55 into a fish tank after the hamsters die.
Or maybe you'll turn the 10g into a hamster tank after the fish die due to lack of room.

2 hamsters don't need a 55g. Maybe you can divide it even further for more hamsters. 3-4 maybe?? They'll be separated with plenty of room. If you want 27.5g for each hamster, thena re you planning to not take them out and exercise/interact with them??

I take my Bearded Dragon out every day to roam around my room and he hitches rides around my house on my dog. Max (my dog) is a Bichon that's only 15 lbs and stands about a foot off the ground at shoullder height. Edgar (my beardie) will climb on top of him and Max will willingly take him around the house. It's cute. Edgar has a 75gL tank and he's only 18" long, yet I still take him out to interact and play with him. He likes climbing on my head when I'm on my laptop. Praise the lord that he's never pooped on me (and hope to god that he never does XD).

What I mean Is that it would be so much work having to transfer everything over to the 55g.

If I divide the 55g in half, each side is just a little bigger than a 10g (but taller). I don't see what is wrong with putting the fish in the 55g, and the hamsters in the 10g's. Parents can be so frustrating at times...

Yup, I agree. I wanted my dad to get me a tank at Petco ($1 per gallon) and he said no. I wanted my 55g with everything (HOB filter, UTG filter, heater, decorations, food, stand, etc) for $50 and he said NO!!! I had to buy it myself!! He's so cheap!!

Imma be back soon, kay?? Hopefully my laptop will have internet,a nd if not, well then people are going to have to deal with my spelling errors on my phone. XD
