I don't understand? You are the one that decided and said it was "the worst idea ever". You don't even listen to your own good sense, let alone the recommendations of others.

OMG you are such a drama queen. Chill.

Fishman..I'd go with this advice:

How about instead of a spotted rapheal you make the addition of a small species of pleco. The common species are Bristlenose(IME best dang algae eater I have owned, better the oto's even), Clown(mine is lazy and hides 24/7, and Rubbernose(really good algae eater). I also have experience with L-02 but good luck finding one. They are banned from export in brazil.
*OR* check out banjo catfish...

I'm not exactly sure because I don't remember much about them, but I think rapheals eat smaller fish like your danios/barbs...

Tho if you want to risk it, there is nothing we can say or do that's going to change your mind...but I'd read more about it and be 100% sure it's not going to rip through your fish and it'll be comfortable in a 20gal for it's life...

Just how does that make me a "drama queen"?? It was fishman that said it was the worst idea ever, not me. The problem is he obviously knows it, but says he will do it anyway and it is his tank so why does he bother to even ask any one?

Newman wants to crash the raphael party. I say you shouldn't really do it because these guys do grow fairly big(5"+), they are more appropriate for a larger tank, with a lot of caves and crevices for them to hide in. I think you will already be crowding your 20 gal if you put another serious bottom dweller like the spotter raphael. It may get quite aggressive with your other catfish (my spotted raphael hated my striped raphael back when i had them both).
They are awesome hardy fish, but they IMO belong in a larger tank with larger fish that they cannot actively hunt down and eat.
BTW if you ever want it planted WITH the raphael in there, you can forget about it because the bulldozing and uprooting capabilities of the raphael are better than any goldfish. That's just a caution note if you wanted to ever go into the planted direction.

I think in the bumblebee catfish you have found your main bottom dweller. what exactly are you looking for in terms of fish for your tank? you already have some schooling fish and a ram. I think youre good now.

I think it was a bit unfair to called Thyra a "drama queen". A fair point was made there.

Fishman, I really think you have quite a nice mix of fish right now. Why upset the balance? I'd personally let things settle for a while and make sure all's going well and maintains this way before rushing to buy another fish.

Newman, and everyone else, is spot on about the spotted raphael cat. Great fish but not a good fish for a 20 gallon. What you're forgetting here is that you're tank is a 20g TALL not long, there's not that much floor space for three boisterous cats to share. It's not a case of "what would one more fish do", it all depends what fish that is.

Also the above 3 or so posters that mentioned it chomping on your other fish are very correct, it'd be a total waste of money if your danios and cherry barbs got eaten and you'd only want to replace them with something else. Also, as I've said before your tank is quite sparse, to even consider another bottom feeder you need to up the plants and decoration and get some more hiding places in there.

Basically, you do have space for another fish or 2, but I honestly don't think a spotted raphael is the way to go, it's too risky for a number of reasons all listed in the above posts. For a bigger thank in the future, possibly.

Sometimes you need to stop thinking about what would be "cool" and what fish instantly draws you and start thinking PRACTICALLY about what fish would actually suit your current set-up, and leave those dream fish until you can accommodate them. We all have to at times.

I know, long post, please read it and the above carefully and really consider what we say. Only looking out for you and your fish at the end of the day. As Thyra rightly said, there's not much point asking if you're not prepared to change your mind if you don't get the answer you were hoping for.

*Goes back to sleep :)*

I appologize for not listening, i have rationalized it and im going over to aqadvisor, plug in what i have and click that button that says "Show suitable species" pick out what i like, plug in some numbers, do some research, do some configuring about what will work with my setup (btw Ryanoh is sending me some Java Moss threw mail ) and il get back to you and Okay it with you guys before i go this upcoming weekend to FINISH my tank off. And Thyra is not a drama queen and that was very rude to even say she was, she was trying to help me as all of these people are kenny, i dont want to scare you off because i like ALOT of diverse opinions because 1 or 2 opinions isnt good. And i do appreciate you all not just deserting me when i get a lil hard to get along with, i think i made Bass very angry thou which i will always excuse cause she's my betta buddy :D Well off to aqadvisor, see you guys back in a bit :D

You didn't make me angry, Fishman. I just stated my opinion (that I thought it was a bad idea) and left it that. :) I didn't see a need to rationalize why I thought it was a bad idea when you, yourself, stated that it was probably a bad idea.

Hey Fishman, and Dylandrewsdad if you see this too, I didn't get a chance to mail off the moss today. I should have it out tomorrow though.

Fishman, I am not in the stocking business, but as you know I have followed your "plans" for quite a few months and they have always been heavy on the cichlids. Are there any that would fit your tank with Lily? Also, didn't OC suggest exchanging the danios for something you would like better?

Fishman, I think we've had this conversation before...more than one type of dwarf cichlid in a tank as small as yours WILL NOT WORK. Sorry, kiddo. Unless you want World War III on your hands...

As far as a photo shoot with my boys...I'll talk to them and see what they're schedules are like. ;)
