Tank Dividers...

How should i go about dividing my tank without the purchase of some other cheap system???? I'm trying to save a few bucks here.

I was thinking about dividers a while ago. I never did it, but could you use the mesh from the lid of a reptile cage? We have a bunch of it that doesn't have metal in it. I was thinking about attaching it to a frame and then placing it in the tank. But I couldn't figure out what to make the frame out of...

In a pinch i used two pieces of one inch wood trim stainless screws and i bought a roll of fiberglass door screen at walmart for like 5 bucks (enough to make a LOT of dividers)

Depending on the size of fish you could use eggcrate light diffusers.

Eggcrate is what came to my mind too.

What about using the screen and using PVC as the frame. Cut it in half so its flat on the side that sits against the tank. You could silicone it in place too.

And if you use window screen, just make sure that it's the nylon type, the stuff without metal in it.

If anyone has pictures of their DIY divider, I would really appreciate it. I am about to do the same thing this week. So any help is welcome.

I use eggcrate (light diffuser) cut to size. Works perfectly for larger fish. Anything as small as or smaller then the holes, well....it won't work of course. Cheap and easy.

I used poster hangers from Wal-Mart for the frame and mesh cloth.

I made one of plastic mesh from the bottom of a pizza box.
