tips - advice on re-modelling my tank.

Well I did my wc. 30percent roughly. Tested the tap water b4 hand and ever so slight ammonia but that was it. Nitrite n trates all clear. Give the gravel a gd cleanin of fish crap lol moved 1 my caves behind plants to maybe encourage a bit of dwellin with sum xtra privacy. Hav also took pics of my old filter that I will post and hopefully sum1 can look and c if the rite media is there. There r 2 thin pads between the larger foam pads. 1 is black and the other looks grey, which was probably white at some stage. Should they both be in there? If any of the 2 at all? Could this be way that 2plus keeps clogging up? Both pads done? I will add pics 2mara to show wat I mean.

It's too bad you didn't have any other tanks to sort all the fish out, but rehoming and getting things organized and back together is the way to go for the benefit of the fish.
