If you are going to use beef heart special care needs to be taken in preparing it. You can have the meat dept slice alot of the fat off, and cut it in slices...I did this, then when you get it home, wash it very well and cut it into small chunks, put small amounts in baggies tying them off and then freeze them. Then when you want to feed with it you can take one baggie out to defrost IN the fridge or rinse with cool water to thaw. Be sure to keep what is left refridgerated immediately after feeding. Ive never had 'fronts' but have kept carnivore fish and did use beef heart, worms, and small frogs plus live feeders.

Ohh Cichlid-Man, sry i forgot to answer your question! I got him for about $7.50 or so, and he is about 3.5-4 inches!
Wow! For a frontosa that size is very good.

Another thing about beefheart, its very messy and the excess should be cleaned out of the tank asap. From what i've seen and read Frontosa are not the most aggressive to grab the food like Mbuna, i'd be wary of the Mbuna grabbing all of the heart before the front, and possibly ending up with MalawiBloat.

Could I also feed him some feed guppies, the place i go, Hoffer's Tropic Life Pets, has been rated either the first or second Best Fish store in the entire state of wisconsin, i've literally had them flat out not sell me a fish! So i'am not afraid of their feeder guppies being dirty or not safe.

but what about my mbuna's if they eat it they will get sick!

So can i feed him feeder guppies or not, I just really want him to get big and healthy, he's officially my new favorite fish!
