Your fry are commiting suicide. xD Try putting mesh over the filter intake or put a REALLY thin bit of pantyhose over it with a rubberband holding it in place. It might affect the flow, but not too much. You might want to use a pair of unused pantyhose though. i'm pretty sure your mom wouldn't appreciate you going around ripping them up...although that's what I did with mine. xD I'm not a big dress fan so I don't have to wear them. My dad looked into my tank one day, asked what was over the filter, and when I replied that I cut off the foot part of my pantyhose and stuck it on there, he started laughing so hard.
