Ugh, this reminds me of my old job. I came in one day and someone had decided to "pretty up" the bathroom by getting a bowl of fish... maaaybe 1 gallon and guess what fish they decided to get? A 3 spot gourami AND a tiger barb. My jaw dropped and I just stood there forever in shock. Apparently the fish store told them they would be just fine!

haha I think I would like the toilet one. Get a small school of fish in there it would be kinda neat. Of course I don't know how the heating would be if you had tropical fish in there because of the cold water always coming into the middle and what about a filter?

Yeah, even though is a bit cruel still...I think the toilet one would be kinda cool. I agree with the heater/filter problem. I mean seriously, how cool would it be to plant that thing! Thats one thing you could do with it...Attach some lights somehow to the lid...and get some good lighting, some nice substrate and some hearty plants.

Then again, its like a $400 toilet

I hear people complain about this all the time. I often wonder what they think the alternative is.

Let's see.... each fish gets its own private tank, 20 bettas per 18 wheeler.

Or how about 20 bettas in nice big tanks, killing each other on the trip.

The reality is that to ship aquatic life and come close to breaking even for transportation is that you can't give them the best conditions, it just doesn't make sense.
I totally agree with you. Ive never really heard people complain about it. I was merely informing the "betta lovers" who may not work at fish shops on how they are shipped.
