Lol, I was actually thinking of an amazon-theme tank with leaf litter and little to none plants...
cuz now I realize 4.8 wpg T-5 light is way too crazy w/o a commercial CO2 system.

LOL, how did I not think of this earlier ._.

I added a capfull of excel, and manually mowed down all the algae. The dwarf sag looks pretty bad, but the HC is in good shape still.

Though I'm kinda bored of the iwagumi idea, maybe I will go with some other scape and design involving my plants from my 40 gallon tank.

OK so who wants a 10" x 10" mat of HC?

It still has some macro algae within it, so you will have to make sure that you kill that or out-compete it in w/e tank the HC is going in.

I should post some of the algae-scapes I've done over the years. Just don't know what backup CD they are on.

If you want to part with it, I'd gladly take it. Do you know what plants you do want in the tank? Maybe we could do a trade for some of my clippings?

a trade sounds fair. Is that willowleaf hygro (assuming thats what is in your oto tank) a fast grower? I need something that grows fairly fast.

In my 'Oto Haven' tank, yes, that's the common name for it. It grows in just about any situation. Halfway good light and it takes off. The tank is a 20gallon high tank, so 16 inches tall. If this would be for a 10gallon, you'll need to trim it as it grows, since a 10gallon is 12 inches tall. The leaves get long so to keep it in check, you'd need to remove the oldest growth from time-to-time.

Another option is to let it grow long and 'drape' over the top of the tank. Shy fish love it, cuz it diffuses the light. It can choke out any algae you throw at it! It can also choke out other plants you want to keep if you let it get outa control.

thats my type of plant (just like the water lily) I'll take some of that if you can spare. The HC mat is obviously not 10" x10" since its in a 10 gal. more like 8" x 6" or something around there.

I don't have any HC and could carpet my 20 gallon long with it.

I'm getting new otos on the 20th, so should tame down the forest in there anyway. I hope the new otos breed for me. They were not cheap!
