Hmmm.... well i'll have to wait til the next change.

Anyways back to an update. The brown algae is pretty much starting to take over the tank now, so i picked up 3 Astrea snails and they had been taking out chunks at a time, so i guess thats a good thing.

My CUC looks something like this now

3 blue leg hermits (1 small, 2 medium)

4 Nassarius Snails

3 Astrea Snails

I can see all the hermits and the snorkels of the Nasses, but I cant seem to find the Astreas anywhere. er?

Should I add more of anything for the CUC or should I just let it be?

u can fine your nassarius? i had about 5-6 (forgot) and i only found 4 at most.
they're always hiding deep in the sand.

hope your astreas doesnt crawl out of the tank.

i made a mistake on getting 4 hermit crabs. 2 for me should have been enough...

if u get algae problems then add more but remember they will starve if food runs out. same goes for the snails.

Aight mini update time. The diatom phase came and past, now I think I'm on to a slight case of hair algae. Looks like little blades of grass growing on some spots on the glass. The mag takes care of that. Other than that the coral frags are doing pretty good. Did a water change today, and cut one of the sponges down and removed all filter media that came with the tank.

The astrea snails are doing a great job so far, and the hermits are behaving. Water params are perfect.

So now looking to get some fish. The only thing I'm for sure certain about is that I want a pair of Occelaris Clowns, and the LFS just got a fresh batch in. I wanna get my pick of the litter before they get sick. So i'm thinkin I just might tomorrow if i get time.

As far as other fish I was thinkin a 6liner and thats it i dont know.

This is gonna be a reef tank, so any further suggestions are most appreciated.

:)

I got my clowns! Lookin good, very active, nothing like the last one I had in the 10g. These guys ate all the mysis from my hand within hours of being in the tank! Very curious little buggers, have checked out every inch of the tank, and have been messin around in the current.

Awesome fish, very fun to watch. Pics on their way, just gotta charge my camera.

Thanks freddy, but man we all spoke too soon. My tank crashed cause of something having to do with the phosban i added.

Everything has stabilized again, I did a couple of huge water changes and so far so good.

I had a couple of pics that I had been meaning to post on the brown algae outbreak I had and what these Astrea snails do! Amazing. This one left a trail of nothing and had the rock cleared up before I knew it! My best algae eaters. Or at least were..... :(

Eh, oh well, no time to mope around I guess, gotta dust myself off and try again.

Update time I guess, with the new home page article n' all. The phosban disaster came and passed. I'm gonna pick up some LR rubble for the first chamber on the right.

So far the tank sits like this:

24g Aquapod 150HQI MH

100w Heater - Right Chamber

Upgraded stock pump to Maxijett900 (just swap and plug in)

Also running a AquaClear 30 in the display

Stock sponge cut in half in the right hand chamber (to be removed upon addition of LR rubble)

24lbs of LR in the main display

20-25lbs of sand (aragamax fine grade)

Two Magfloat cleaners (had an extra one)- Buy ones that are to be used on Glass.

Digital Thermometer

CUC consists of the following (will add some more later)

4 Nassarius snails

5 Astrea snails

3 Blue leg hermits (dont get anymore than that, or just skip on them all together)

The whole thing is pretty much plug and play, nothing too complicated.

Future upgrades to consider but not mandatory:

AquaC remora (nano) - gonna be ordering one soon.

LR Rubble in the back chambers

Carbon Media such as Chemi-Pure for the back chambers. - (MrBungle)

Pretty sure thats it for now. Also you can check out MrBungle's Ballatopia thread as he just started a 12g Aquapod. Between the two threads you should have enough info for whichever one you choose.

Restocking of the tank has begun, I had given the frags to a friend to see if he could help "heal" them. Got them back and a he gave me another frag of some zoas. I have started to restock, slowly but surely. I'll have some pics up soon. :)
